Job Description:

ROLE AND PURPOSE

Manage the Accounts Payable Department in compliance with school district policy and in accordance with federal and state laws governing non-payroll payments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification & Experience

Bachelor's Degree, required

Experience

Three (3) years of supervisory experience, preferred
Three (3) years of accounts payable experience, required
Texas public school district experience, preferred
TEAMS software experience, preferred



SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Detail oriented, multi-taker, professional attitude and reliability
Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast paced environment
Strong problem solving, research and resolution, data analysis skills
Understanding of W-9 and 1099 Misc. forms
Ability to work under deadlines and high pressure situations



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Manage the Accounts Payable department in a manner that supports the educational process
Supervise the Accounts Payable staff in a courteous but professional manner
Provide schools and departments clearly defined procedures for processing payments through the Accounts Payable department and be able to effectively train district employees on these procedures
Employ problem solving skills to address payment difficulties
Assign duties to the Accounts Payable staff in a fair and equitable manner, and provide leadership that promotes efficient and effective work habits
Evaluate job performance of Accounts Payable department employees
Approve all non-payroll payments for goods and services in accordance with district Initiate payment on a timely basis.
Observe governmental accounting standards and internal controls
Provide reports as necessary related to the payable function
Maintain accurate and up-to-date files of payments made by Accounts Payable
Prepare and submit reports of information required by the IRS
Support the district's student management policies
Develop professional skills appropriate to the job assignment
Work with vendors in an ethical and professional manner
Work with district employees in an ethical and professional manner
Provide assistance to district employees as needed



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel
