The Vice President, Centralized Billing Office (CBO) is responsible for achieving and maintaining a properly functioning revenue cycle process across most Company hospitals and affiliated facilities. The CBO has established, and has consistently achieved, high performance standards in four key areas: exceptional revenue cycle and cash collection outcomes; continuous process improvement and use of technology to leverage efficiency; patient satisfaction; and employee satisfaction. The Vice President - Central Business Office serves in a leadership role to ensure the financial viability of Company and achieves optimal enterprise revenue cycle results; accomplishes operational, IT, and strategic initiatives; and meets a high standard for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
This position has the following duties and responsibilities: Manage Revenue Cycle Operations for the Texas Health and Partners’ hospitals Maintain all PAIC On-TRAC Targets and improve Press Ganey for the admitting suite of questions in the following areas; IP, OR, ER, Ambulatory Directs business services including billing and collections Responsible for the timely completion and implementation of the Business Services Strategic IT initiatives Maximize the use of appropriate technology in an effort to convert accounts receivable to cash Responsible for effective management of system’s Business Operations Department to achieve low cost operations through continuous improvement processes Responsible for monitoring the patient Accounts Receivables, ensuring maximum cash flow and reimbursement for healthcare financing Responsible for the timely completion and implementation of the system’s strategic IT initiatives for the Business Operations and Admissions Departments Meets established revenue cycle performance measures and cash collection targets Achieves budget objectives for areas of responsibility Achieves annual operating and strategic goals and objectives Establishes success in the continuous improvement of departmental infrastructure and leverage of technologies, and the recruitment and retention of high performance and talented staff Establishes high staff satisfaction and engagement as reflected in low turn-over rates, responsive resolution of complaints, and satisfactory employee/employer relations measures Listens well to patient needs and responds timely and appropriately. Has high patient satisfaction measures Leader/Advisor/Educator: Ensures seamless flow of support to the financing and delivery of healthcare while ensuring patient and customer satisfaction needs are always given highest priority Is an effective participant in Company’s decision making ecology and serves required roles as a leader or member of several committees Effectively leads High Reliability Organization (HRO) meetings and initiatives Coordinates operational activities and systems development for Epic Resolute Financial Management System as well as leverages niche systems, where applicable, that accelerates converting A/R to cash Contributes to the institutional knowledge of the latest trends, practices and state-of-the-art technology as applicable to assigned areas of responsibility Effectively mentors high performing staff for promotion to positions requiring increased responsibilities Technical Skill: Demonstrates a core understanding of reimbursement, human resources, revenue cycle workflow, and information systems. Understands job expectations and demonstrates compliance with organizational policies and procedures Demonstrates a working knowledge in the areas of patient access, billing, denial management, cash management, health insurance practices, industry regulatory requirements, business office operations, AR and financial reporting technology, wage and hour regulations, basic accounting, and industry standards for healthcare revenue resolution management practices Teamwork: Participates effectively as a member of the Finance division and Company enterprise sharing mutual goals and common mission Regularly foresees potential problem situations, intervenes to offset adverse impact and demonstrates a proactive attitude Demonstrates respect and cooperative relationships in fulfilling the goals and mission of Company and this position Communication: Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills with all whom they interact including staff, visitors, and patients and their family members Communications, verbal and written, demonstrates a commitment to customer service and excellence Written documents and reports are clear and concise. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration required, MBA and Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration is preferred. 10+ years executive revenue cycle experience in large, complex, multi-site integrated health system. Demonstrated excellence in the design and implementation of progressive and successful revenue cycle performance models. Demonstrated experience converting revenue cycle systems is required. Experience with the successful implementation of the EPIC Resolute billing system is beneficial.
