Description SHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends)SCHEDULE: Full-timeMedical City ArlingtonLactation Specialist NICU Non-Registered NurseFull Time Nights Rotating WeekendsWe are currently seeking a -Lactation Consultant -to join our family. Come be a part of the change! - -What you will do in this role:Will be seeing patients in private rooms as well as a classroom setting. Various temperature and lighting conditions will exist. Noise levels will be low to moderate depending on the room or unit where the teaching takes place. Educator will be walking, standing and/or sitting based on the location of the teaching. Conducts breastfeeding assessments and -performs related duties as required.

• Displays effective communication and counseling skills
• Provides individualized breastfeeding care with an emphasis on the mother's ability to make informed decisions.
• Possesses ability to use adult education principles to provide instruction to the mother that will meet her needs.
• Ability to select appropriate written information and other teaching aides when working with mothers.
• Possesses the ability to accurately provide history and assessment documentation.
• Identifies and communicates correct latch-on (attachment) to nursing mothers.
• Possesses ability to identify breast abnormalities.
• Demonstrates support for continuation of breastfeeding when mother is separated from her baby.
• Shows a broad knowledge on breast feeding related equipment and demonstrates appropriate use and understanding of potential disadvantages and/or risk. -Medical City Arlington -is a 432-bed full-service hospital located in the heart of the growing South Arlington area.     • BLS required
    • One year of experience with -Breastfeeding mothers or working in Obstetrics
    • Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification -required
