Job Description:
Description:
This Occupational Therapist position works under the supervision of
the Discipline Lead, and in the absence of a lead, the Clinical
Director. The team member should be dedicated and passionate about
the therapy they provide, the families they serve, and looking for
an opportunity to grow.
Responsibilities:
The Occupational Therapist performs patient care and related
activities in accordance with best practice/evidence-based practice
guidelines
The Occupational Therapist completes patient evaluations and
reassessments in accordance with hospital and department
guidelines
The Occupational Therapist develops an individualized plan of care
based upon evaluation/reassessment findings according to clinical
and operational guidelines
The Occupational Therapist performs patient care and related
activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities,
demonstrating basic clinical competencies
The Occupational Therapist communicates effectively with
patient/family/therapists/physicians and other health care
professionals to promote quality patient care
he Occupational Therapist provides instruction/education to
patients and families/caregivers
The Occupational Therapist assesses patient and family needs
regarding their level of understanding, ability to assimilate
information and the most desirable method of teaching
The Occupational Therapist provides accurate and thorough
information consistently to patients and families concerning their
participation in the patient's continuity of care
The Occupational Therapist documents information in patient medical
record
The Occupational Therapist documents patient information in
Electronic Medical Record according to office policies and clinic
guidelines
The Occupational Therapist participates in staff development
The Occupational Therapist plans, coordinates and presents
post-workshop training to department staff per department
guidelines
The Occupational Therapist performs other essential functions as
needed
The Occupational Therapist works with staff and health care
professionals to promote teamwork through volunteering regularly to
help others when time allows with health, safety and training
in-services and other obligatory activities
The Occupational Therapist maintains a current awareness and
participates in office quality activities
COTA Supervision as required by the practice.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
The Occupational Therapist will have a Master's degree in
Occupational Therapy
Current Texas state license to practice occupational therapy
Two years pediatric clinical experience preferred, although a
strong new grad will be considered.
Knowledge and understanding of rehabilitative care of patients with
acute and chronic conditions, and knowledge of development from the
ages of neonate to adulthood
The Occupational Therapist has knowledge of sensory processing and
sensory integration disorders, its impact on activities of daily
living, and rehabilitation.
The Occupational Therapist must be articulate, courteous, and
supportive in dealing with clinical and administrative colleagues,
patients and parents with ability to honor confidentiality
The Occupational Therapist will demonstrate excellent verbal and
written communication skills
