Description:This Occupational Therapist position works under the
supervision of the Location Lead, and in the absence of a lead, the
Clinical Director. The team member should be dedicated and
passionate about the therapy they provide, the families they serve,
and looking for an opportunity to grow.Responsibilities
- This Occupational Therapist performs patient care and related
activities in accordance with best practice/evidence-based practice
guidelines
- This Occupational Therapist completes patient evaluations and
reassessments in accordance with hospital and department
guidelines
- This Occupational Therapist develops an individualized plan of
care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings according to
clinical and operational guidelines
- This Occupational Therapist performs patient care and related
activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities,
demonstrating basic clinical competencies
- This Occupational Therapist communicates effectively with
patient/family/therapists/physicians and other health care
professionals to promote quality patient care
- This Occupational Therapist provides instruction/education to
patients and families/caregivers
- This Occupational Therapist assesses patient and family needs
regarding their level of understanding, ability to assimilate
information and the most desirable method of teaching
- This Occupational Therapist provides accurate and thorough
information consistently to patients and families concerning their
participation in the patient's continuity of care
- This Occupational Therapist documents information in patient
medical record
- This Occupational Therapist documents patient information in
Electronic Medical Record according to office policies and clinic
guidelines
- This Occupational Therapist participates in staff
development
- This Occupational Therapist plans, coordinates and presents
post-workshop training to department staff per department
guidelines
- This Occupational Therapist performs other essential functions
as needed
- This Occupational Therapist works with staff and health care
professionals to promote teamwork through volunteering regularly to
help others when time allows
- This Occupational Therapist attends health, safety and training
in-services and other obligatory activities
- This Occupational Therapist maintains a current awareness and
participates in office quality activities
- Other duties as assignedRequirements:Qualifications
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current Texas state license to practice occupational
therapy
- This Occupational Therapist has two years pediatric clinical
experience preferred, although a strong new grad will be
considered.
- This Occupational Therapist has knowledge and understanding of
rehabilitative care of patients with acute and chronic conditions,
and knowledge of development from the ages of neonate to
adulthood
- This Occupational Therapist has knowledge of sensory processing
and sensory integration disorders, its impact on activities of
daily living, and rehabilitation.
- This Occupational Therapist must be articulate, courteous, and
supportive in dealing with clinical and administrative colleagues,
patients and parents with ability to honor confidentiality
- This Occupational Therapist must demonstrate excellent verbal
and written communication skills
- This Occupational Therapist must be able to utilize basic
office equipment such as fax, copier and PC
