Job Description:
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) seeks
an accomplished leader and scientist to serve as Division Chief of
Addiction Psychiatry for the Department of Psychiatry. The Chief
will have the opportunity to build upon the research and academic
programs for the division while helping to ensure outstanding
addiction and substance use related care in one of the nation's
fastest growing regions.The Chief will develop and foster a vision
for the Division, focusing on developing a robust research
portfolio emphasizing grant funding, scholarly output, and
high-impact journal publications. The role involves building
interdisciplinary partnerships with departments such as
Anesthesiology and Pain Management, Hepatology, Transplant
Services, and Sickle Cell Services. The Chief will also oversee the
Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship program, established in 2000, which
is the second largest of its kind in the country, and will work to
recruit, train, and retain faculty to grow the division.The
Department's 300 faculty have expertise across various areas of
modern psychiatric practice, including psychoanalysis,
neurobiology, psychiatric epidemiology, psychiatric neuroscience,
interventional psychiatry, and depression research. It is
affiliated with the Peter O'Donnell Jr. Brain Institute, renowned
for its research, education, and patient care.Psychiatry services
are provided at multiple locations, including UT Southwestern
University Hospital, Parkland Hospital, the Dallas Veterans
Administration Medical Center, and others, serving a diverse
patient population and collaborating with community agencies.UT
Southwestern is a leading academic medical center known for its
scientific excellence and clinical care, with numerous faculty
members recognized nationally and internationally, including
members of the National Academy of Sciences and Medicine, and
Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigators.The ideal candidate
will be an active clinical researcher with a strong record in
translational research, capable of leading in a complex academic
environment, with scholarly achievement of national recognition.
Applicants must hold an MD/DO with board certification in Addiction
Psychiatry, be eligible for appointment as an associate or full
professor, and have Texas licensure for employment.UT Southwestern
