Job Description:

ROLE AND PURPOSE: This position serves to support teachers, administrators, and staff with development and implementation of arts integration interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning. The coach provides support through professional learning, coaching, cross-departmental collaboration, modeling, and consulting for the implementation and use of recommended curriculum, instructional best practices, and digital tools. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree from accredited institution Valid Texas teacher's certificate Experience: Three or more years successful teaching experience Experience as a teacher leader Experience with interdisciplinary instruction and the arts Experience leading professional learning and/or training workshops: face-to-face, blended, and/or fully-online Experience in instructional coaching (preferred) SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Highly skilled in coaching and mentoring Deep understanding of instructional best practices including arts integration and instructional design Knowledge of learning theory, instructional strategies, state standards (TEKS), assessments, and arts integration Broad and varied technology skills and a willingness to learn new skills and applications for integrating technology Clear understanding of curriculum planning and use of curriculum documents to include visual and performing arts Ability to support cross-curriculum/interdisciplinary teaching and learning Ability to lead meetings, PLCs, and develop effective teams Ability to adapt well to change and to apply new solutions to rapidly-changing expectations Excellent organizational and time management skills Superior written and oral communication skills, reflecting a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Develops and maintains an environment conducive to collaboration Aptitude for strategic planning, program analysis, and data analysis Expertise facilitating professional learning in a variety of formats (face-to-face, online, and/or blended) Provides timely and effective customer service to all stakeholders MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Instructional Management Coach teachers and staff in the planning, implementation, reflection, of arts integration experiences and initiatives Keep abreast of effective instructional practices including best practices for arts integration Support teachers through co-planning, co-teaching, and demonstration of arts integrated lessons Provide PLC support to enhance arts integration Facilitate ongoing, job-embedded professional learning Plan and facilitate authentic collaborative opportunities between fine arts and core content teams School/Organizational Climate Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, teachers, and others Work both independently and collaboratively across departments in a team-based, service-oriented environment School/Organizational Improvement Assist in the planning, monitoring, and analysis of systems and plans for continuous improvement to support the Campus Improvement Plan Identify campus-wide instructional needs Communicate district information, requirements and professional learning opportunities Maintain accurate coaching logs and records Student Management Assist in the analysis of student achievement data in order to recommend changes and/or adjustments to initiatives and placement School/Community Relations Use various social media outlets to share instructional best practices and to promote activities, initiatives, and positive events throughout the district Research and facilitate community partnership opportunities to provide specialized core instruction, professional learning, artist residencies, multicultural perspectives, and enrichment opportunities for students and staff Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards all district personnel, students, and community stakeholders Professional Growth and Development Assist in the development, implementation, and enhancement of professional learning opportunities for staff Provide direct support for teachers and staff utilizing AISD curriculum and arts integration Serve as a source of information on trends, research, applications, and effective best practices Maintain and model a strong desire for continual professional growth and learning Miscellaneous Perform other duties as may be assigned by department supervisors
