A Travel Registered Nurse is a trained professional nurse who
administers skilled nursing care to patients that meet service line
specific criteria. The Travel Registered Nurse will be required to
perform admission, routine, respite, or continuous care visits and
assess patients within regulatory requirements.
The Travel Registered Nurse is responsible for overall coordination
of the care delivered to her/his patient caseload throughout a
travel territory. This is accomplished by making regular visits to
patients wherever they reside and providing for their needs in
accordance with the attending physician's orders and the plan of
care. This position requires the ability to quickly build rapport
and communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians,
facilities, and other applicable team members throughout assigned
travel territory. The Travel RN will receive temporary assignment
from the Area Vice President or designee based on branch staffing
* Education: Graduate of an accredited Certificate, Diploma,
Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
* EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a clinical
care setting. Experience in a hospice or home health environment is
* CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Current State Licensee as a Registered
Nurse for all states assigned in travel region.
o Nursing skills as defined by accepted nursing standards
o Ability to build rapport and communicate with patients, families,
physicians, facilities, and other members
o Demonstrates ability to assess and respond to the needs of
patients and families
o Demonstrates ability to cope with family emotional stress and
tolerance of individual lifestyles
o Demonstrates knowledge of current requirements of the Conditions
of Participation and third-party payer
o Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy skills and medication
o Ability to handle multiple priorities, documentation requirements
* TRANSPORTATION: Reliable transportation.
* TRAVEL: 100% travel.
* HEALTH STATUS: Meets all applicable agency policies and
procedures related to health screening and required testing.
* Ensures that all activities performed align with the vision of
Elara Caring's board of directors, executive team, and the
leadership of the Hospice team.
* Promotes Elara Caring's philosophy, mission statement and
administrative policies to ensure quality of care.
* Maintains patient and staff privacy and confidentiality pursuant
to HIPAA Privacy Final Rule.
* Assesses assigned case load of patients and families to identify
the physical, psychosocial, and environmental needs of patients as
evidenced by documentation, clinical records, after hours reports,
and on-site evaluations.
* Assumes primary responsibility for caseload, including assessing,
planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the plan of
