It all begins with outstanding talent. It all begins with you. Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company. These newly created Operational Risk Consultant 6's (ORC6s) will be part of the Risk Program Oversight Team in Independent Risk Management (IRM) aligned to Safety and Physical Security (SPS), or Transaction Processing and Execution (TPE). Both roles will have regular reporting to risk management committees, and quarterly reporting to the Risk Committee of the Board. Both consultants will report to the SPS/TPE head of risk and program lead. Both ORC6s will partner with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management from all three lines of defense, as well as agency representatives from the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting their respective risk types by serving as central point of representation to all constituents internal and external including: Operational Risk Business Oversight (ORBO), front line and other related risk teams
  • Serving as point of contact with audit and regulators
  • Attending steering committees and work groups to ensure appropriate risk management coverage
  • Supporting and coordinating risk management efforts with other IRM programs in the firm
  • Challenging strategic initiatives requirements and develops alternative approaches/solutions
  • Engaging subject matter experts in focus areas (SPS: Corporate Properties Group, Corporate Safety and Risk/ Insurance Management, and TPE: Operations, WIM, WHSL, PVSI)
  • Building and sustaining a strong risk culture including a balanced approach through working in cooperation and consultation with all lines of defense across the enterprise
  • Executing timely oversight responsibilities while serving as centralized contact for SPS/TPE activities and related risks
  • Collaborating with both Risk Title Oversight & Reporting Team and Governance & Strategic Cross Functional Oversight
  • Providing and facilitating the administration of credible challenge in a structured, timely and focused manor
  • Serving as representatives on various committees
  • Reviewing and approving material changes to methodology
  • Highlighting and/or escalating material operational risk management issues to the relevant senior leadership
  • Driving critical decisions and managing multiple stakeholders to reach agreed upon solutions
  • Communicating internally/externally across the Operational Risk Type Coverage Program

    Required Qualifications
    • 12+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 12+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 6+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

        Other Desired Qualifications
        • Proven progressively responsible career growth
        • 10+ years of professional experience in Financial Services with SR 15-18 firms, with experience covering banking, insurance, investments, mortgage, and consumer and commercial financial services
        • Experience developing enterprise risk management governance / framework
        • Experience with Key Risk Indicators (KRI), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and/or Risk Appetite
        • Experience with risk management-related analysis, including thematic reviews
        • Experience with management-level governance committee and/or new business/products
        • Knowledge of Basel II event types, especially execution, delivery, and process management
        • Challenging strategic initiatives requirements and develops alternative approaches/solutions, with an ability to prioritize leveraging risk based approach
        • Ability to successfully identify, assess, measure, mitigate, monitor, control and report current and emerging operational risk exposures within SPS/TPE

          Job Expectations
          • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
